Message/Outline

  • Paul explains that we are not saved by our works or obedience to God's laws. We are saved by faith in Jesus Christ.
  • When the believer is saved by faith in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit begins to live within him, in order to help him not to sin.
  • When the believer performs good works, people see the love of God.
  • Brothers must help to do what is pleasing in the eyes of God.

1, 2Greetings. The inconsistency of the Galatians. Paul vindicates the divine authority of his apostleship and his doctrine.
3, 4Paul defends his gospel through discussion, appeal, and allegory. The law is powerless to save, but leads to Christ and faith.
5, 6Paul exhorts the Galatians to properly use their Christian freedom. He speaks about the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit. He also talks about bearing one another's burdens and warns against legalists.
