This book continues the record of the events of the divided kingdom. None of the kings of the Northern Kingdom (Israel) followed God consistently, and thus Israel was finally destroyed by an enemy nation. The Southern Kingdom (Judah) lasted longer, but eventually Babylon conquered Judah and deported its citizens.

| 18, 19 | Hezekiah restores the worship of the Lord. The army of Assyria approaches Jerusalem, but God sends an angel who exterminates the Assyrian army in one night. |
| 20 | Hezekiah becomes ill, but God restores his health. The prophet Isaiah warns that the Babylonians will one day take the treasures and the people of Judah to Babylon. |
| 21 | Amon is a very bad king and ends up being killed by his servants. After Amon's assassination, the people crown Josiah, his son, as the new king. Josiah was eight years old. |
